Following up on an extremely successful showing in 2011, the multi-day POW WOW Hawai’i art event had its third annual showing in 2012. Originally conceived in Hong Kong, the event moved to founder Jasper Wong’s native Hawaii to help enrich the local creative scene. The event encompasses a global roster of over 30 artists who each created art at Loft in Space and over the streets of Kaka’ako over a six-day period between February 13 to 18, 2012. Aside from the main event of artists hard at work, two secondary elements included an Arkitip Pop-Up Store and the “Day Job?” curated by Hypebeast’s Eugene Kan. The nearly week-long event culminated with a huge party on Saturday, February 18, 2012 as well as a “black out” session in which many of the pieces created for the event was painted over to reinforce the importance of process in art.
